If the mountains of California are not at your head, you may ask for one from the Lake Tahoe Residence. Designed by Chen+Suchart Studio, this glass house is located on a steep lot in the Mountaintop neighborhood of Los Angeles, USA.
With an appearance that seems to virtually float, the 6,400 square foot house is organized into four main wings and a courtyard which offer spectacular views of the scenic Lake Tahoe.
Beautiful vistas are instantly captured by the inky black-painted walls from the front and rear elevations. The vistas are largely captured by the modern art collection of Olive Grove.
The beautiful Lake Tahoe Residence by S+Arquitectura:
“The site is located in a unique location, within walking distance of Lake Tahoe and beautiful uninterrupted views north and south. Our challenge was to locate the living spaces on the street side and creating a private courtyard for the client, positioned to take in the views.
The south addition to the main house contains two bedrooms, a family room and a 4 car garage. The two wings connected by a beautiful infinity pool create an efficient sun-shading and exterior living environment.
The south addition includes the entry on the ground floor as well as the family room with its high operable dining table and fireplace. The master suite is located on the second floor and offers the privacy necessary to create a protected loving space. “
