Contemporary Home on the Sunshine Coast

Utilisation of space is definitely not easy on one side but the location of this contemporary home on the Sunshine coast, California was perfect as it brings approximately 2000m2 of space into a small and modestly sized lot. The house, which was designed by Californian architecture firm smc builders, takes maximum advantage of space in a divided structure.

The house includes three bedrooms with en-suites, an open plan lounge/living area, and a Master Suite. Given the small lot size, the ENCE expense of the single and double bedrooms was at a premium. It was however expensive to build the entire structure, the four modules separately cost $2.0 million, a reality that the architects hope will encourage a return to a more sustainable lifestyle. They also took full advantage of what they could do with their lot and planning a house of 3500 square feet that houses three bedrooms and 17 bathrooms. They imagined a home that looks like a mid century modern design, a minimal one that is also eco friendly. Using the pre-existing trees to shape the house was a really nice and daring idea.
