“The proposal for Villa “Kaleido” – the house-appearance – was realised with a clear vision that www.katai.be – Fran Silvestre Arquitectos – that a completely new life and vivid ambient will be present in every space of theKatai house. Highlights of the original crenelations existent in the construction, in which original light and colors have been worked towards the interior decoration. The clear vision of the rooms allows for the illumination of the environments.

The central space of the luminous north light has remained uninterrupted, there are few openings and the natural light has been carefully projected into the vary environments of the different areas. Light hammers and lights for libraries and different areas have been projected without hindrance into each space of the ensemble.

The fire place has been completely redesigned, some were turned into a decorative and functional object by covering it with a shiny new coating. The laminated birch panels of the walls have been used to help reduce the visibility of the rooms and for solving the functional artifacts. Other good accessories are the electrical wall plugs and the wood wool covering the shutters.

The interior makes use of the space that is already divided into several separate rooms – bedrooms, bathrooms, guest rooms and office- and multiplies in order to provide an endless play of open and closed spaces which not to the space nor to the original order.

Walls and floors of new walls have been incorporated successively to the design of old walls, doors and windows and ceilings have been checked and the original division has been totally preserved. Historical photos of the Rosado house and other documents of the Punta Caliza region can be used here – they can help to reconstruct the original architecture which is, at the same time, in an hedger for local architecture.”
